Local Action Group (LAG) JyväsRiihi is one of Finland's 54 Local Action Groups.
The common goal of the group is to activate rural residents, associations, and small businesses to take initiative in developing their own local areas. The goal is to develop the functionality and attractiveness of rural areas as living and working environments. Our group promotes and encourages cooperation between people and organizations.
JyväsRiihi operates in Central Finland. The area covers four municipalities and it includes sparsely populated rural communities, small rural towns, and the countryside around Jyväskylä City. The
area is a home to over half of the region's population. At the end of year
2012, the surface area of LAG JyväsRiihi was 2,300 km² and it was home to
165,000 people, some 56,000 of whom live in the countryside.
Through cooperation and with the help of a diversified network of developers, the group is increasing the effectiveness of LEADER-activities and supporting interaction between communities and associations.
